A loving and intimate alternative to a baby shower. Drawing on the traditions of ancient cultures, Mim creates a nurturing and safe environment to honour and celebrate the Pregnant Mum as she moves into a new stage of life - motherhood, for the first or subsequent time. A wonderful opportunity to provide positive energy and support
to the Pregnant Mum, and at the same time, acknowledge an important rite of passage.
What happens in a Pregnancy Circle?
Whilst each Circle is unique and can be tailored to meet individual needs, there are common threads that run through Pregnancy Circles.
– A beautiful altar complete with flowers, candles and crystals sets the mood in the middle of the Pregnancy Circle.
– The Pregnancy Circle opens with an explanation of the ritual as well as cleansing of the room with a ‘smudge stick’ - a native American custom used to prepare a space.
– An optional short chant is offered to quiet the mind.
– A short, guided meditation continues the process of relaxing and unwinding. Cosy blankets are provided for those who would like to lie down during this.
– Guests bring an object that reminds them of the Pregnant Mum and during this time they share qualities that they especially appreciate about her. Lots of laughter is shared at this time.
– Circle guests are given an opportunity to pamper and be pampered by each other by massaging each other’s hands with exquisite massage oil infused with essential oils.
– Pampering time for the Pregnant Mum begins. She has the choice of:
> a herbal foot scrub, soak and foot massage performed by friends (all oils used are safe to use during pregnancy)
> reclining on a sofa, eyes closed and listening to beautiful music. Friends lay their hands on the Pregnant Mum’s stomach, sending her and the baby love and energy - A wish or blessing for the Pregnant Mum and her baby are written on a beautiful card and presented to her in a special bag as each guest lights a candle to symbolise their wish or blessing.
– Closure of the Circle, which includes presenting the Pregnant Mum with a beautiful booklet to keep - full of special mementos from the Circle’s guests and honouring their individual friendships with her as well as candles for each of the guests to light when the Pregnant Mum goes into labour.
